ABOUT STRAUSS GALA ORCHESTRA

• The roots of the "Strauss-Gala-Orchestra-Vienna" lead to the "Amadeus orchestra Vienna" that was founded by Kurt Schmid and Atsushi Nukii 1985 primarily for giving special concerts with Viennese program and tours. In the first years of its history the orchestra gave more than ten successful big concert tours with music of Mozart and Strauss.

  1998 on the wish of many concert managers the "Amadeus orchestra Vienna" was renamed in the "Strauss-Gala-Orchestra-Vienna", Kurt Schmid was ordered the artistic director and chief conductor.

  The orchestra consists already of 60 members who come from famous, internationally approved orchestras like Wiener philharmonic orchestra, Wiener symphonic orchestra, Tonkünstler orchestra of the Lower Austria, Hofburgorchestra and others.

  The focus of the orchestra lies in the interpretation of music of the Strauss dynasty in authentic Viennese tradition. It plays the music of the golden and silver ages of the operetta – music of Franz Lehár, Emmerich Kálmán and other famous masters. Pieces of our principal conductor Kurt Schmid are also on the program.

  The orchestra gives annually many concerts in Austria and abroad. So, in the time of its existence it undertook numerous tours to Japan with New Year concerts in the Viennese style and gave numerous successful concerts in Austria. The orchestra is oft responsible for music programs on numerous Viennese balls in Austria and abroad (the last successful performance was at the “Gala de Austria” in Barcelona that was patronized by the famous tenor José Carreras).

  Music is a universal language. It is comprehensible for people of all ethnic nationalities. It brings peace and harmony to the hearts and establishes better communication between the people. We are proud to bring the Viennese atmosphere of music to every part of the world and are happy to entertain the audience at our concerts for a while.
